Maple Syrup Making (early spring only)

Learn the ins and outs of how maple syrup is made each spring in our small-scale operation

20 US dollars

Description

Experience the magic of maple syrup making at Apple Acres Farm. Join us for an outdoor adventure in the Sugar Bush where you'll learn how ~40-50 gallons of maple sap is turned into one gallon of delicious maple syrup. During this one hour experience you'll get a chance to see how sap is collected from our Sugar Bush while snowshoeing/hiking in the woods. We'll then spend time in our sugar shack learning how we boil down sap in our evaporator as well as the filtration steps required to safely bottle the finished syrup. This experience is offered seasonally when the sap is flowing, usually mid- to late-March through mid-April. Sap flow is influenced by temperature and can be thus be variable depending on weather conditions. Each tour is unique and while our syrup making activities ebb and flow depending on sap flow, you will learn about each step of the syrup making process while enjoying the beauty of the spring in the woods. Bring your boots or snowshoes (if you have them) and get ready for a fun adventure in our Sugar Bush. Please dress appropriately for this outdoor tour.
